Raymond Philosophy {Entry for January 29, 2007}

One of my favorite comedy TV series is Everybody Loves Raymond. It is a very hilarious , on your face humour and the charecters in the show are very much people we come across in our day to day life. Be it the nagging, nosy parents, goofy brother or the contrasting personalities of Debra and Ray, it is a delight to watch . It has been the most successful and hit show in terms of popularity after friends in my opinion . Well i am not gonna brag more about the show ........



This is not the main purpose of this blog.... This Blog is about selfless love ... You must be wondering then why i am talking about the show..... Well that was to give you a brief idea about the show..... I feel a point is better conveyed when it is delivered with an example.. This makes it easy to understand and remember .. This may sound silly ( insane would be better) in parts and impractical but i guess everyone one has a bit of impractical side about them ......



As George Bernard Shaw said..........



'We need a few mad people. See where the sane ones have landed us. '




Well, I am not going to drift any further from the theme or essence of this blog ...... Selfless Love.......




I want you to look at the charecters Ray and Debra..... They are very opposite personalities....



Debra being smart, quick thinker ,popular and practical .....Ray being slow, sluggish,impractical with a good heart . Well what i wanna say in our life we sure would have come across a person who is opposite to our nature in many ways... you have somethings in common,but most things about the person is complimentary to you...



I believe in the saying that



like forces repel each other and unlike forces attract .......



So i guess you somehow find the person interesting and you come across one that you feel in the mind that this is the one.. one and only one you were looking for... and you have feeling your search ends here...



The relationship starts as a friendship and as you get closer and closer you seem to be sure that this is the one and only you were looking for..



I am gonna use Ray for the guy and Debra for the girl in such a relationship. Ray thinks he has found his Debra....... But Debra doesn't know about it. .....



Ray thinks about telling about it to Debra ....He ponders about it..... The decision he takes is that he will keep mum about it and continue as friend.......... There were many factors that influenced his decision ...



1) He doesn't want to lose Debra as a Friend. He believes friendship to be the first step to any relationship. These lines play in his mind ' how can we be lovers if we can't be friends' .........



2) He thinks Debra is too good for him .. he feels he has nothing good to offer for Debra than his heart and love ..... So he feels he is no way going to mess up the life of someone he loves.... he would rather leave it to fate than taking matters in his own hand.... he is no way gonna influence anything... he is just gonna be himself... he thinks he was no way influenced in by anyone in believing that this one was his Debra ... So he is just waiting for the day she feel he is her Ray ...



and calls him Ray .......



Well these charecters were used as a prop to portray the concept of selfless love........ I know it sounds a bit silly but this i think is good way to convey the point..... You must be wondering why the name Ray philosophy ..... Well since i am a guy ...and Ray is one that thinks with the heart and another being i like the charecter raymond in the show... so its kind of like a tribute to him .......
